Good bye oqotalk.com
I will no longer be posting on oqotalk.com, I’m sorry it has come to this but I can no longer edit my posts when I change things around such as driver locations or updated warranty/repair info. I won’t drag things out and post why I think I was removed. But just an FYI here are the facts as I know them. The sites admin decided he no longer wanted me as a mod, with out warning or even a hello he removed me. The new site admins are active in deleting any post that deal with the how and why i was removed. I just want to set the record that I have no idea why it was done. I have had no known conflict with the sites owner. He ignored my requests for new forums and other admin stuff for years. A BIG thanks to all those who emailed me to thank me for the time I’ve put into oqotalk.com since 2005. OQOtalk.com owner still has not contacted me to tell me why.
This is kind of sad because oqotalk.com was started after it became clear handtops.com was going down the drain because of a site admin hell bent on making money. I wish greed would not rule this world.

Sigh. What is it with Geeks and Polite Discourse? Didn’t get socialized when they were young….? I for one will miss your commentary and smiling face on OQO-T
I will be tracking this site as well as OQO-Talk (and a couple of other in in UMPC space).

How exactly do you come up with this stuff *just* because I didn’t say anything to you when I changed up the moderators? I don’t have anything against you, and would welcome your continued participation at oqotalk.com. I made the request for moderators back in May, and as usual with things related to oqotalk.com, took forever to get it done. There is now “Why” other than what I posted at oqotalk.com – i.e. I felt it was simply time for a change. I said nothing but complimentary things about you in my short announcement, so I don’t understand why is it you feel the need to be this petulant?

Troy, Define how Pappasan is a top poster? ( don’t want to bash him) I know of many others who offered to be mods. Why didnt you go back to your post on oqotalk.com about asking for new mods? How about tnkgirl, andydlc, Ronc? Why remove me as a mod? I’d love to know why the need to remove me? I can no longer edit any of my posts…..

It’s sad to see you go. I too share your dream that greed would not rule this world, but the last greed-free stronghold in the world fell in 1953 with it’s leader’s death. RIP

Sigh. Now I will have to live at OQOAsIs as well as OQOTalk.
You all will now see how poor my spelling is.
First Dennis, then OQO Inc. now Picasso, well I suppose that’s life. Nothing ever stays still. Makes it enjoyable though.

It was disappointing to see you kicked out but such things happen. However, it was unforgivable to see them start censoring posts which committed the sin of asking that you be put back as a moderator.
At the moment there is nothing else out there like OQOTalk but I sincerely hope you add a forum to OQOasis. I don’t know the motivations of Troy (although I assume it’s related to the “Mediaserve” business he has in his signature) but you were a “Hero Member” and Troy was a “Jr. Member”. To me that sums it up.

To me this is unbelievable. I am surprised that Stu and Pappasan are even willing to go on as mods at OQOTalk like this, after all, they could suffer the same unthankful fate anytime, if Troy decides to remove them singlehandedly.
I was sad to see that happening. Thanks so much for being mod at OQOTalk all these years, your spirit made that site a welcome place!

Signing in my support for Picasso, after this recent stunt at OQOtalk, I’m done with that place. There is just no reason to ever put up with people like Troy.

I’m sorry that you were not at least given the courtesy of a private thank you and a reason why you were removed as a moderator. That alone would have been the polite thing to do.
Not sure if you saw my post at OQOTalk this afternoon but I wanted you to know that I am personally very thankful for all of your time, effort and dedication to the forum over the past years. The job of a moderator is truly a thankless one and you handled it all on your own.
Best of luck to your new site. I’ll visit when I can.

I will also state my support for Picasso. You have always been gracious and helpful promptly answering questions and or concerns. I always enjoyed interacting with you.
I think there is something seriously wrong with this guy Troy. I emailed him many many times regarding issues I have had and continue to have with accessing the his site. He stripped me of my access completely essentially banning me from signing in, I tried to use different names but eventually and I do not know how he did this he managed to block the domain. I can not access the site from home at all.
I never received one return email, one reason why all of a sudden 3goldens, who had been posting for years could not log in at all. So I think what Picasso is saying here is quite accurate.
I was the highest poster for the longest time, until Stuart surpassed me, and all of a sudden I was no longer allowed to use my log in name, nor could I change my password, I could do nothing. I felt deeply disappointed with a forum I had dedicated quite a lot of time to. So I relate to what Picasso is saying here.
Whatever Troys beef is, and I have no idea what it is, nor do I care, it really turned me off the whole forum and with the demise of OQO, it really did not matter any more. But he is a jerk, really man, he doesn’t even own an OQO, and never ever posts. I have nothing good to say about people who go around banning people for speaking freely and bans members and now moderators without cause. Who the hell does he think he is?
And I don’t care if he does host the site, members would have gladly chipped in and supported the site throughout the years. Had they known that the host had a proclivity to be a little bit of a diabolical biased individual who lurked around and never really participated in the running of the site and left it all to Picasso for years they would have been happy to. And the thanks he got was this, nice guy really!
I am glad there is a new forum and I’m not sure why anyone would continue to support this whack job at the other site when this new one is up and running and seems to be quite good.
That’s what I have to say on the matter.
